Bush Ad Twists Kerry's Words on Iraq - Bush will do anything to win, even lie

The Ads selective use of Kerry's own words makes him look inconsistent on Iraq. A closer look gives a different picture.

Summary
Kerry has never wavered from his support for giving Bush authority to use force in Iraq, nor has he changed his position that he, as President, would not have gone to war without greater international support. But a Bush ad released Sept. 27 takes many of Kerry's words out of context to make him appear to be alternately praising the war and condemning it.

Here we present this highly misleading ad, along with what Kerry actually said, in full context.

This ad is the most egregious example so far in the 2004 campaign of using edited quotes in a way that changes their meaning and misleads voters.

John Eisenhower (Republican) son of President Eisenhower will vote to Kerry

This is a short excerpt from Eisenhower’s article:

As son of a Republican President, Dwight D. Eisenhower, it is automatically expected by many that I am a Republican. For 50 years, through the election of 2000, I was. With the current administration’s decision to invade Iraq unilaterally, however, I changed my voter registration to independent, and barring some utterly unforeseen development, I intend to vote for the Democratic Presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry.

The fact is that today’s “Republican” Party is one with which I am totally unfamiliar. To me, the word “Republican” has always been synonymous with the word “responsibility,” which has meant limiting our governmental obligations to those we can afford in human and financial terms. Today’s whopping budget deficit of some $440 billion does not meet that criterion.

Responsibility used to be observed in foreign affairs. That has meant respect for others. America, though recognized as the leader of the community of nations, has always acted as a part of it, not as a maverick separate from that community and at times insulting towards it. Leadership involves setting a direction and building consensus, not viewing other countries as practically devoid of significance. Recent developments indicate that the current Republican Party leadership has confused confident leadership with hubris and arrogance.

Three Dozen Leading Pediatricians Say the Bush Regime is Hurting America's Children

Yahoo: "Three dozen eminent pediatricians and social workers attacked the Bush administration on Wednesday for policies they said leave too many children without health insurance. The doctors, including some well-known authors of manuals for parents and professionals, said they were taking the unusual step because they were worried about the state of U.S. health care. "The Bush administration's policies are moving us away from effective and longstanding federal commitments that improved the health of children, commitments proudly initiated and supported by previous Republican and Democratic presidents," reads their statement, signed by 36 child experts. "If not reversed, these ill-advised tax and budget policies will erode decades of hard-won health gains for children, while still leaving unaddressed such critical problems as child abuse, mental health, and alcohol and other drug abuse." Bush’s hometown Newspaper Endorses Kerry

President Bush's hometown paper endorsed John Kerry for president, saying the Massachusetts senator will restore American dignity.  "Four items trouble us the most about the Bush administration: his initiatives to disable the Social Security system, the deteriorating state of the American economy, a dangerous shift away from the basic freedoms established by our founding fathers, and his continuous mistakes regarding Iraq," the editorial said. - The paper did endorse Bush in 2000.

Who is telling the truth? Answer: Not Bush

President Bush continues to tell the American people that the United States will not cut and run in Iraq and that we must do what is necessary to win the peace in Iraq. But wait a minute Donald Rumsfeld, the US defense secretary, signaled last night, saying there was no need to wait for peace to begin a withdrawal. But if we pulled out before there is peace we would be cutting and running. Who is telling the truth? Does Bush have a plan to tell the people one thing and do another after the election or maybe Bush does not have control over Rumsfeld. Either one is disturbing. (Source story). Yesterday Colin Powell to the public that the situation is getting worse which is in direct conflict to what President Bush is telling the public. Powell also admitted that anti-American sediment in the Muslim world is increasing, which is in direct contrast to Bush’s statements (source story). Bush basically called Kerry crazy when he said the war in Iraq had increased anti-American felling and made the United States less secure.

Video - The Whole Truth About The Iraq War

This video has a impressive roster of experts is assembled to provide a generally withering commentary on the quality of evidence and possible motivations of the Neo-conservatives who provided the momentum and muscle behind America's venture into preemptive war. Among them are veteran CIA analysts and operatives, military officers, diplomats, politicians, arms inspectors, and U.S. and British government officials. The fig leaf of the possibility of an honest mistake on the matter of WMDs is stripped away; what is left is the stark and disturbing anatomy of deliberate deceit. Watch the video

How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy. Bush losing credibility by Mark Mellman

Some months ago, I noted that David Kay’s charge that the Bush administration had gotten the facts on WMD completely wrong had dealt a body blow to the president’s credibility. It turns out that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Americans believe the president misled us on the issue of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) in Iraq. Fifty-nine percent of Americans believe the Bush administration exaggerated intelligence to build support for the war against Iraq.

But this is far from the only instance in which the president has misled us:

Download Candidate Comparison Fliers

Compare President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on important working family issues with these downloadable fliers.

During his 19 years in the U.S. Senate, Kerry has earned a 91 percent lifetime AFL-CIO voting record on working family issues. President Bush, in contrast, has gutted workers’ overtime pay protections, offered corporations incentives to ship good jobs overseas, failed to expand health insurance coverage and, at every step of the way, has placed corporate special interests ahead of the needs of working families.

But don’t take our word for it—get the facts, check the records and be sure to vote Nov. 2.

Reuters is reporting that “Republicans Seek to Tout Positive Side of Iraq War”. This is going to be a tough one. They can not say with a straight face that we are safer, so what are they going to report?
• That we have lost over 1,000 of America’s finest sons and daughters
• That the cost of the war to date is 132 Billion dollars, when we were told it would be 1.5 billion
• That Dick Cheney’s buddies are getting rich off this war
• That we have not found “Weapons of Mass Destruction”
• That 25% of Iraq is controlled by insurgents
• That we can not protect the oil pipe lines
• That we did not find any evidence of a nuclear program
• That we can not afford to fund domestic programs due to the enormous cost of the war
• That our military is stretched to the breaking point
• That we are seen by the rest of the world as the greatest threat to world peace
• That the insurgency is kidnapping innocent aid workers almost on a daily basis
• That thousands and thousands of innocent Iraqis have been killed because of this war
• That most of the “Coalition of the Willing” have pulled out their troops
• That several members of the interim government have been assassinated
• That most Iraqis want us out of their country
• And the list goes on

If the media was liberal why would focus on a recent News Week poll which shows Bush with an 11 point lead and ignore a Zogby poll which shows Bush having only a one point lead over Kerry (website – see Zobgy poll in middle of the page). Another reason I think the media is bias to Bush is because they ran the story about the Swift Boat liars in to the ground while they have ignored the story about Lt. Governor Barnes helping Bush get into the Texas Air Guard. The media does have a bias but it is not to the left.

Why would a father put his politics over his family?

After Dick Cheney’s speech his family joined him on stage, missing from his family was Cheney’s openly gay daughter. Why wouldn’t the RNC allow Cheney’s daughter on the stage. Why would a father put his politic over his family? I think this says allot about the Republican party, but I think it says allot more about Dick Cheney. Compassionate Conservative my ass.

Chaney wanted to cut defense spending by 30% while he was Secretary of Defense

While our current vice –president was the Secretary of Defense during the 1st Bush Administration he proposed cutting military spending by 30% (50 billion dollars). See the transcript of the state of the union address which outlines Chaney’s cuts. How can press let this administration lie about Kerry’s voting record on defense while the vice president wanted to slash the Nation’s defense budget? Can you say hypocrite!
