Lawyers to challenge election in Ohio

Columbus- A trio of activist lawyers armed with mysteriously wrong exit polls and hundreds of voter horror stories announced plans Friday to contest Ohio's presidential election as soon as the vote is official.

Their challenge could lead to widespread reconsideration of dozens of alleged election irregularities around the state - from reported computerized voting glitches to provisional-ballot mishaps to unusual incidents involving voter rolls, poll workers and machine technicians.

Republicans Vote to Protect DeLay

House Republicans voted Wednesday to abandon an 11-year-old party rule that required a member of their leadership to step aside temporarily if indicted. The New York Times reported that, "Meeting behind closed doors, the lawmakers agreed that a party steering committee would review any indictments handed up against the majority leader, Representative Tom DeLay of Texas, or any other members of the leadership team or committee chairmen, to determine if giving up a post was warranted."

Meanwhile DeLay's former spokesman Michael Scanlon was pleading the Fifth before a congressional committee investigating claims that his lobbying firm had bilked Indian tribes of tens of millions of dollars. Wednesday's hearing focused on the $4.2 million the Tigua tribe in Texas paid Scanlon to help it win back a license to operate a casino. Senators heard testimony that "Scanlon and his business partner had been working the same year with former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed to lobby the Texas legislature to close the Tigua's casino in El Paso." The committee heard that Scanlon's lobbying partner Jack Abramoff referred to his tribal clients as "morons," "monkeys" and "stupid idiots." Abramoff boasted of his friendship with President Bush, Karl Rove and members of the House leadership.

UC Berkeley Study Questions Florida E-Vote Count

A research team at UC Berkeley will report that irregularities
associated with electronic voting machines may have awarded
130,000 - 260,000 or more excess votes to President George W. Bush in
Florida in the 2004 presidential election. The study shows an unexplained
discrepancy between votes for President Bush in counties where electronic
voting machines were used versus counties using traditional voting
methods. Discrepancies this large or larger rarely arise by chance -- the
probability is less than 0.1 percent. The research team, led by Professor
Michael Hout, will formally disclose results of the study at the press
conference. Source

New CIA director allegedly was told to get rid of those disloyal to Bush

WASHINGTON - The White House has ordered the new CIA director, Porter Goss, to purge the agency of officers thought to have been disloyal to President Bush or of leaking damaging information to the media about the conduct of the war in Iraq and the hunt for Osama bin Laden, according to knowledgeable sources.

"The agency is being purged on instructions from the White House," said a former senior CIA official who maintains close ties to the agency and to the White House. "Goss was given instructions ... to get rid of those soft leakers and liberal Democrats. The CIA is looked on by the White House as a hotbed of liberals and people who have been obstructing the president's agenda." Read More

CIA Is Said to Be in Turmoil Under New Director Goss

The deputy director of the CIA resigned yesterday after a series of confrontations over the past week between senior operations officials and CIA Director Porter J. Goss's new chief of staff that have left the agency in turmoil, according to several current and former CIA officials.

John E. McLaughlin, a 32-year CIA veteran who was acting director for two months this summer until Goss took over, resigned after warning Goss that his top aide, former Capitol Hill staff member Patrick Murray, was treating senior officials disrespectfully and risked widespread resignations, the officials said.

Several other senior clandestine service officers are threatening to leave, current and former agency officials said. Read more

The turmoil in the CIA under Goss is one more in the long list of failures made by this Administration when it comes to national security.

Election Irregularities (David Shuster of MSNBC’S Hardball)

As promised, our examination of the vote in Ohio and Florida continues. And at this point, I've seen enough to conclude that the congressman demanding a GAO (Government Accountability Office) investigation is not nuts... at least not on this issue.

The mainstream media is now getting on the bandwagon

The mainstream media is now getting on the bandwagon the vote may have been stolen by the GOP. Watch this clip from MSNBC News show “The Countdown”

I didn't know what to make of all of this until I saw this. Especially considering that Democratic Florida counties (up to 88% registered Democrats) that had the optical scans "voted overwhelmingly" for Bush, yet the Democratic counties that had no such machines "had no violent swings" and voted for Kerry. George, Jeb, you got some splainin' to do.

John Ashcroft, the man who lost the Senate to a dead man, has resigned

John Ashcroft, the man who lost the Senate to a dead man, has resigned from his position as Attorney General. This is great news for American, as long as Bush does not appoint another neocon to that position. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans also resigned Tuesday. This is just the beginning of the long list of Bush cabinet members who will be jumping off the burning ship. (STORY)

Dollar May Drop to Record Low

Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The dollar may fall to its lowest ever against the euro for a second consecutive week after President George W. Bush signaled he will expand policies that produced record deficits and a 21 percent decline in the currency since he took office in 2001, according to a Bloomberg News survey. (STORY)

If there is a silver lining on the decline of the dollar it is that US goods and services will more affordable to foreign countries, which may decrease the trade deficit. The bad thing imported goods will be more expensive.

Bush received 3,898 extra votes in an Ohio precinct were only 638 people voted

An error with an electronic voting system gave President Bush 3,893 extra votes in suburban Columbus, elections officials said. Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct. This error was in one precinct the state where the unofficial vote count had Bush winning by 130,000 votes and there still are almost 160,000 provincial and absentee ballots which have not been counted. How many more machines recorded the votes incorrectly? Why were the republicans in congress opposed to requiring a paper trail for the touch screen machines? Since there is no paper trail there is no way of ever knowing if the vote count in Ohio is correct. Maybe the exit polls in Ohio were right. (Source Associated Press)

I will be watching

In John Kerry’s concession speech he said “I pledge to do my part to try to bridge the partisan divide. I know this is a difficult time for my supporters, but I ask them, all of you, to join me in doing that”. Later in the day I listened to the President’s victory speech and was encouraged by what he said. President Bush said “I'm humbled by the trust and the confidence of my fellow citizens. With that trust comes a duty to serve all Americans”, and he also said “So today I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust. A new term is a new opportunity to reach out to the whole nation. We have one country, one Constitution, and one future that binds us. And when we come together and work together, there is no limit to the greatness of America.”

These words give all Americans great hopes for our future, but they are only words. We all know that actions speak louder than words. Words are easy to come by; it is backing up those words with actions which is hard. I will take the president at his word and pray for the sake of the country that our President keeps his word.

P.S. I will be watching and you can watch with me

GOP plan targeted new voters

Barry M. Horstman of the Cincinnati Post has exposed an plan by GOP operatives in Ohio to systematically target and harass new young voters in heavily Democratic voting districts. They had even made up a 26-page training booklet (paid for by corporate cash, undoubtedly) on how to harass voters just enough NOT to get themselves thrown out of polling places. (Story)

It is repulsive to think that all the presidents’ men would actually try to deny American Citizens their constructional right to vote. How ironic that Bush wants free elections in Iraq but not in America. Here is a list of GOP Dirty Tricks

Thank God for the USA, that there will be enough of us to defeat Bush today

My Republican friends just don’t believe me when I say that Bush does not deserve to be President and I can accept them not taking my word, being that I am a diehard Democrat. What I do not understand why they don’t believe the dominions of republicans and conservatives who believe that this administration has been a failure. Paul O’Neil (Bush’s Treasury Secretary), a person who was very loyal to Bush until he saw the man from the inside. O’Neil put his country before his party and was chewed up by the Bush machine. You had three of Bush’s very own arms inspectors tell us the truth and they were also chewed up by the W machine. You have Bob Barr, who lead the impeachment process against Clinton who not only said he could not vote for Bush, but also encouraged conservatives not to vote for Bush. You have respected members of the Republican Party, such as Richard Lugar calling Bush’s policies an “embarrassment.” The American Conservative Magazine has even endorsed Kerry, and my friends won’t listen to them either. I guess they are just blinded by party affiliation over the wellbeing of their country. It is a sad day when the R next to your name means more to someone than the welfare of their own country.

Remarkable

Remarkably, 51 American newspapers that endorsed Republican George W. Bush in the 2000 general election have renounced him after watching his performance in office. Forty switched their support to Democratic nominee John Kerry for Tuesday’s balloting, and 11 others abstained from endorsing anyone.

Do NOT wear Kerry gear (tshirts, hats, etc) when you go to vote.....

It is against voting regulations and poll workers have been instructed to enforce this rule! This rule applies in MOST if not ALL states. The boundaries vary from state to state but please check with your election commission before doing this. It would be sad to wait in line for hours to vote only to be turned away when you get within the allowed boundary. Please help spread this information!!

Our country is in danger, not just from foreign enemies, but above all from our own misguided policies. The war must be ended, and it can be ended. It does not involve giving up, but it does involve not continuing to follow the bankrupt policies we are following at the current time.

Even Republicans Fear Bush

Former Republican members of the U.S. Senate and House, governors, ambassadors, aides to GOP Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush have explicitly endorsed the campaign of Democrat John Kerry. For many of these lifelong Republicans, their vote for Kerry will be a first Democratic vote. But, in most cases, it will not be a hesitant one.

Angered by the Bush administration's mismanagement of the war in Iraq, record deficits, assaults on the environment and secrecy, the renegade partisans tend to echo the words of former Minnesota Governor Elmer Andersen, who says that, "Although I am a longtime Republican, it is time to make a statement, and it is this: Vote for Kerry-Edwards, I implore you, on November 2." If you lie, it just becomes routine

Bush was holding a rally in a ball park in Ohio. The campaign said it gave out 60,000 tickets and 47,000 attended. The ballpark holds 43,000 for baseball, but the moon deck, the diamond seats and most of the outfield was empty. A few thousand supporters gathered around the infield.

It is funny how the campaign said that more people attended then the park will hold and the press reported that only a few thousand were present in the infield. I guess the Bush “Folks” wert lying they were just “EXAGGERATING”.

Bush/Cheney lie about skyrocketing healthcare cost!

THE TRUTH - Nation's Largest Medical Malpractice Insurer Admits Caps Will Not Lower Doctor's Premiums. "The nation's largest medical malpractice insurer, GE Medical Protective, has admitted that medical malpractice caps on damage awards...will not lower physicians' premiums." This revelation, made to the TX Dept of Insurance, was contained in a document submitted by GE Medical Protective to explain why the insurer planned to raise physicians' premiums 19% a mere 6 months after TX enacted caps on medical malpractice awards. In 2003, TX lawmakers passed a $250,000 cap on non-economic damage compensation to victims of medical malpractice caps after Medical Protective and other insurers lobbied for the change. According to the Medical Protective filing: "Capping non-economic damages will show loss savings of 1.0 %." The company also notes that a provision in the Texas law allowing for periodic payments of awards would provide a savings of only 1.1%.. The insurer did not even provide its doctors that relief and eventually imposed a rate hike on its physician policyholders." (source www.democrats.com) Read the whole story

If Halliburton did nothing wrong why is the FBI investigating them?

The FBI has expanded an investigation into allegations of contract irregularities by Halliburton Co. subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root Inc. in Iraq and Kuwait.

The FBI requested an interview with a Pentagon official who complained recently that the Army gave KBR preferential treatment when granting it a $7 billion classified contract to restore Iraq's oil fields just before the war began in March 2003. Read more

The FBI says this is very sensitive because the Vice President was at one time the CEO of Halliburton and this is an election year. I say Bull Sh@t, on one seem to give a damn when they were investigating Bill Clinton around election time. Why should this five time draft dodger be any better than Bill Clinton? May it is because the charges are true and all that stuff about White Water was a lie! As FDR said “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Damn I despise these Republicans!
